Description
Scuba meets survival in Last Tide! Launch into battle alone, or fight to win with friends in exhilarating last-man-standing combat. Loot, shoot, and fend off swarming sharks in this underwater battle royale from the creators of Depth.
History
Beginning, and hiatusIn late 2015, we were excited by the potential we saw in emerging 'Battle Royale' mods. We built a prototype to find and solve key issues - it was very different in setting to Last Tide (not being underwater at all), but with a similar technology base (including UE4). By Q2 2016 we had to re-focus the company's efforts towards supporting Depth and other contracting projects. The prototype was shelved with the hopes we would be able to return to it.
Diving in againEarly in 2017 we returned to see a different market - with games like H1Z1 and The Culling having come out with Battle Royale modes. With the market maturing, we needed to differentiate more - so we decided to change the direction of the prototype. We moved to an underwater setting - with some Depth assets able to be re-worked for faster prototyping.
PartnershipIn July 2017 we approached Supergenius with the possibility of a partnership to augment our very small art team. Having worked together before, we knew our developers and their artists could deliver solid, quality work - and they agreed! Through late 2017 and early 2018 we ramped up our team and built the core systems needed for the game.
Early AccessWith our experience from Depth highlighting the value of community feedback, we wanted to involve the community earlier in the construction of Last Tide. Last Tide launches in Early Access in Q3 2018, and we'll be working tightly with the community to ensure we're delivering what players want.
